Barrel Cedar Sauna
Get your sweat on with our made-to-order cedar barrel saunas
Have a great sauna experience with outdoor sauna kits from Forest Cooperage.
With continuous usage, a cedar barrel sauna can provide numerous health benefits, including cleansing the body of impurities, improving blood flow, increasing metabolism and enhancing skin tone.
Whether you choose a vertical or a horizontal barrel sauna, it will add beauty to any landscape.
We make all our saunas with the finest kiln dried, 100% heartwood Western Red Cedar. The barrel sauna’s floor and sides are 1 9/16″ thick, providing high quality insulation. Corrosion proof, stainless steel bands hold our saunas together.
All sauna styles have relatively easy assembly using the minimum amount of tools.
Recommended heater will depend on your climate and the size of the sauna.
Options range from the basic, but effective Harvia Kip 60 with built in thermostat to the sleek Harvia Virta 9kw with digital control panel. The Virta uses 3 boxes of sauna stones for great steam production.
We offer a complete custom chimney package that complies with safety regulations. The chimney is usually paired with the Harvia M3 Wood burning stove.
An amazing option if you have the space from neighbours and love the ritual of starting a fire. You can’t beat the heat and atmosphere of the wood burning sauna.
Our horizontal Cedar Barrel Sauna makes for a beautiful outdoor sauna kit.
The barrel saunas are easily constructed by most, but if you feel nervous about it, a local construction contractor or landscaper shouldn’t have a difficult time assembling it for you.
The barrel is either 6ft, 7ft or 7.5ft in diameter.
A sauna room can be from 5ft to 10 ft long depending on the number of guests you wish to have at any given time. 7′ long is a nice size for many as it allows most people to fully lay down with a 6’4″ interior length bench
These saunas can be equipped with an additional 2 or 3ft long porch for an outdoor cooling off area.
The Horizontal Sauna features:
- Two benches that run the length of the sauna
- A pre-hung sauna door with tempered glass
- Cedar cradle, which requires very little foundation work
- Cedar duckboards (flat floor) can be added as an option with 7′ and up diameter saunas.
If you’re looking for a space-conscious outdoor sauna, The Forest Lumber & Cooperage vertical sauna is perfect. It has 7 1/2 ft in diameter with 7 1/2 ft high walls, which make it possible to use indoors without the roof package.
The Vertical Sauna features the following:
- Modular roof
- Ridge caps of one piece cedar moldings
- Attractive cooper cap on the sauna peak
- Two inches of foam insulation incorporated above the cedar tongue and groove ceiling
- Two Level curved benches, which accommodate up to 6 people
